Yellowstone National Park

Yellowstone Lake

We set off at dawn, officially entering the magnificent Rocky Mountains region, the only route to the East Entrance of Yellowstone National Park. Along the way, towering peaks and boundless forests stretch as far as the eye can see. Snow-capped mountains and glaciers gleam in the sunlight, waterfalls and rivers rush through the valleys, and wildflowers and grasses dot the landscape, creating a rich and breathtaking natural panorama. During the drive, you'll also have the chance to encounter various wild animals and experience the vitality of the pristine mountains up close.
Around noon, we entered Yellowstone National Park, hailed as "the world's first national park." Here, North America's most pristine and magnificent natural landscapes converge: vast prairies intertwine with ancient forests, herds of high-horned deer and bison roam freely, and various rare waterbirds inhabit the area. Colorful geothermal hot springs and fumaroles dot the plateau, forming a breathtaking natural wonder alongside the ancient Yellowstone volcanic landscape, vividly showcasing the Earth's most primal and powerful forces.

Yellowstone National Park
National Park, the world's first national park, is located in the Los Angeles Mountains, known as the "backbone of America," on a lava plateau between the northern and central Los Angeles Mountains in the western United States. Established on March 1, 1872, it is renowned for its rich wildlife and geothermal resources. Named after the source of the Yellowstone River, the park boasts hundreds of recorded animal species. Native Americans have inhabited the Yellowstone area for at least 11,000 years. Geothermal wonders are its hallmark, and the park's natural landscape is divided into five main areas: the Mammoth Area, the Roosevelt Area, the Canyon Area, the Geyser Area, and the Lake Area, each with its own unique characteristics.

Yellowstone Lake (30-minute visit)
Known as "the most unparalleled alpine lake," Yellowstone Lake is the largest lake in Yellowstone National Park and one of the world's highest- altitude lakes . The average annual water temperature is 5 degrees Celsius. Yellowstone Lake holds 340,000 tons of water, with an annual outflow of 30,000 tons, and the water is completely replaced approximately every 8-10 years. Observations since 1952 show that the annual fluctuation in Yellowstone Lake's water level does not exceed 6 feet. Yellowstone Lake freezes over for six months each year, from late December/early January to late May/early June, with ice layers ranging from several inches to two feet thick. Due to its size, depth, and local monsoon winds, Yellowstone Lake sometimes resembles a turbulent inland sea. In late summer, Yellowstone Lake is stratified by varying water temperatures ; the surface water rarely exceeds 19 degrees Celsius, while the lower layers are much colder, making swimming impossible; humans can only survive for 20-30 minutes in these temperatures.

Optional activity at your own expense:[Yellowstone Lake Boat] Each boat can carry a maximum of 6 people. Open from June 13th to September, depending on the weather (inside the park). Whether you can participate depends on the actual situation and cannot be booked in advance.

Fishing Bridge ( 20-minute visit)
Fishing Bridge spans the Yellowstone River, connecting Yellowstone Lake to the northern area, and is one of the park's important transportation and viewpoints. Standing on the bridge, you can overlook the clear river water flowing gently out of Yellowstone Lake. The lake is vast and the view is expansive, with wildlife often seen in the surrounding area. It is also an ideal spot to observe the hydrological changes of Yellowstone Lake and photograph the lake scenery, making it a good place for a short stop to relax and unwind.

Upper Yellowstone Falls Upper Waterfall Edge (30-minute visit)
The Upper Falls was formed by the Yellowstone River eroding softer rocks. Located upstream, the 109-foot-high Upper Falls can be seen from the Upper Falls and Uncle Tom 's Trail, where you can witness the spectacular sight of Yellowstone Falls up close.

Artisit Point Yellowstone Artists' Point (30-minute visit)
Artist Point is located in the eastern part of Yellowstone National Park. From Artist Point, you can enjoy spectacular views of the interplay between high and low waterfalls, as well as breathtaking natural scenery composed of clear skies, turquoise waters, white spray, and tan canyon walls. Artist Point is also a popular spot for viewing the lower falls and enjoying Yellowstone's stunning landscape.

第4天 Yellowstone National Park

行程:

Norris Geyser

Morning Glory Pool

The Grand Prismatic Spring

Old Faithful

From the hotel early in the morning for a day trip to witness the geothermal wonders of Yellowstone National Park. Upon entering the park, first explore the most active and representative geothermal area – Norris Geyser Basin, where steam rises and fumaroles abound, showcasing the raw energy of the Yellowstone volcanic plateau. Then head to the colorful Yellowstone Palette, where hot springs, mud pots, and fumaroles intertwine to create a landscape resembling a natural painting.
Next, we'll visit Yellowstone's iconic landmark, Old Faithful Geyser, to witness its spectacular, regularly erupting flow. Stroll along the Upper Geyser Basin boardwalk to Morning Glory Pool, soaking in its vibrant mineral colors and steamy atmosphere. Afterwards, we'll head to the Grand Prismatic Spring, known as the "Eye of the Earth," where the lake's colors shift and change with the light, creating a breathtaking spectacle. Finally, we'll explore the Mud Volcanoes area, where the gushing, hot mud and sulfurous fumes provide a powerful and awe-inspiring experience, showcasing some of Yellowstone's most striking geothermal landscapes.

Norris Geyser Basin Norris Geyser Basin (30-minute visit)
Norris Geyser Basin, located in the north-central part of Yellowstone National Park, is one of the park's hottest, most geologically active, and most unstable geothermal areas. It features numerous fumaroles, hot springs, and geysers, with steam rising from the surface, showcasing Yellowstone's most pristine and awe-inspiring volcanic landscape.
The basin's geothermal landscape boasts a rich tapestry of colors, ranging from crystal-clear blue-green hot springs to milky blue-white mineral deposits, creating a constantly shifting visual effect under varying light. Some geysers remain in a state of dormancy for extended periods, with extremely long eruption cycles. Historically, one geyser reached a record eruption height of approximately 380 feet, showcasing the immense energy hidden deep within the Yellowstone volcanic plateau. A stroll through the basin feels like walking on a constantly "breathing" earth, a truly awe-inspiring and unforgettable experience.

Artist Paint Pots Yellowstone Palette (30-minute tour)
Also known as the Artist's Paint Bucket or Painter's Paint Bucket, it is an important tourist attraction in Yellowstone National Park. The colorful landscape is a key feature of this attraction, combining four typical geothermal features: hot springs, mud pots, fumaroles, and geysers.

Old Faithful Geyser Old Faithful Geyser (90-minute visit)
Old Faithful Geyser is a geyser located in Yellowstone National Park, USA, named for its consistent and regular eruptions. It was named during the Washburn-Lanford-Dorn Expedition in 1870, becoming the first named geyser in Yellowstone National Park. Currently, it erupts approximately every 90 minutes, each eruption lasting 4-5 minutes, with water columns reaching over 40 meters high, creating a spectacular sight, and it never stops. The geyser and the adjacent Old Faithful Inn are listed as part of the Old Faithful Historic District.

Morning Glory Pool (75-minute visit)
Morning Glory Pool, located at the end of the Upper Geyser Basin in Yellowstone National Park, is named for the vibrant morning glory-like colors that appear around its edges. It is one of Yellowstone's most iconic hot springs. The water's color gradually transitions from deep blue to yellow and orange, creating distinct layers under sunlight, making it a highly scenic attraction. Powered by a continuously heating underground spring , Morning Glory Pool boasts extremely high water temperatures. Its unique color variations, combined with the surrounding steaming landscape, make it a key scenic spot for visitors exploring the Upper Geyser Basin on foot.

The Grand Prismatic Hot Spring (40-minute visit)
Also known as the Grand Prismatic Spring or the Eye of the Earth, it is located at coordinates 44.524569, -110.837975 in Yellowstone National Park, USA. With a diameter of approximately 100 meters, it is the largest hot spring in the United States and the third largest in the world. It is about 75 to 91 meters wide and 49 meters deep, with a water temperature reaching 85 °C , and approximately 2000 liters of 71-degree Celsius water gushing out every minute. It was first discovered by explorers in 1839. The amazing thing about the Grand Prismatic Spring is that the color of the lake changes with the seasons. In spring, the lake changes from emerald green to a golden orange-red. In the height of summer, the chlorophyll decreases, so the lake displays a vibrant orange, red, or yellow hue. But in the depths of winter, due to lack of sunlight, the water turns a deep, dark green.

Mud Volcano Area ( 30-minute visit)
Located in the eastern part of Yellowstone National Park, near the north side of Yellowstone Lake, the mud volcano is one of the park's most spectacular geothermal landscapes. Unlike other geothermal areas in Yellowstone that are dominated by clear hot springs, the mud volcano erupts mainly as hot mud, with the surface constantly churning and bubbles bursting, accompanied by a strong sulfurous smell, showcasing the most primitive and direct side of Yellowstone's volcanic activity.
Around the mud volcano, mineral deposits nourish vibrantly colored vegetation, with grasslands displaying bright and unique hues that contrast sharply with the churning mud. Walking along the boardwalk offers a close-up, awe-inspiring visual and auditory experience of the geothermal eruptions, as if you were on a still-evolving part of Earth's landscape. It's an important attraction for understanding the energy and geological activity of Yellowstone's volcanoes.

第5天 Yellowstone National Park - Grand Teton National Park - Salt Lake City

行程:

Grand Teton National Park

Temple Square

Jackson Antlers Park

Great Salt Lake

West Thumb Geyser Basin

Utah State Capitol

In the morning , we departed from the hotel and drove along the South Yellowstone Scenic Road, first visiting the West Thumb Geyser Basin, which is adjacent to Yellowstone Lake. This is a rare lakeside geothermal landscape area within Yellowstone National Park, where hot spring steam rises from the lake shore, reflecting off the clear lake water and the clouds , creating a unique and captivating scene. Afterwards, we enjoyed distant views of Yellowstone Lake, experiencing the vastness and tranquility of this high-altitude lake.
After leaving Yellowstone National Park, head south into the magnificent Grand Teton National Park, where snow-capped peaks, meadows, and valleys create classic American West mountain scenery. Afterwards, visit Jackson, a famous town in Wyoming, to take photos at Elk Antlers National Park and experience the vibrant atmosphere of a Western town.
Afterwards, we drove to Utah, arriving at the Great Salt Lake, where the lake and sky meet in breathtaking scenery. Upon entering Salt Lake City, we viewed the majestic Utah State Capitol from the outside and strolled through Temple Square, a landmark in the city's heart, to learn about local history and culture. After the tour, we transferred to Salt Lake City International Airport, concluding our trip.

West Thumb Geyser Basin West Thumb Geyser Basin (60-minute visit)
West Thumb Geyser Basin, located on the shore of Yellowstone Lake, was formed 150,000 years ago by a tectonic subsidence. The combination of hot geysers and lake water creates a unique, misty landscape: the steam rising from the hot springs rises amidst the shimmering green waters of Yellowstone Lake, reflecting against the backdrop of blue sky and white clouds, creating a scene unlike any other hot spring area in Yellowstone. This area is essentially a bay of Yellowstone Lake, where many geysers converge. The vents display a variety of colors, some transparent green, others a dark, cement-like black. The numerous vents create a beautiful, fantastical scene.

Grand Teton National Park Grand Teton National Park ( 90-minute visit)
Established on February 26, 1929, and named after the highest peak in the Teton Mountains, Grand Teton National Park boasts a near-pristine ecosystem. Some prehistoric plants and animals still thrive here, and the oldest rocks have been identified as dating back 2.7 billion years. With its numerous lakes, rivers, and snow-capped mountains, including Jackson Lake and Jenny Lake, the park creates a tranquil world south of Yellowstone. Furthermore, Grand Teton National Park is home to an incredibly diverse array of wildlife, including bison, grizzly bears, black bears, and moose.

Elk Antler Arches Park Deer Antler Park (30-minute visit)
The park isn't large, but it features giant arches made of deer antlers in the four cardinal directions. The antlers are all hard and durable, making it a shame they aren't used to make deer antler tonics. These antlers aren't from hunting; they're from the large numbers of elk that migrate from the mountains to Jackson's National Elk Sanctuary every winter. In the spring, the antlers naturally shed and are replaced, leaving behind countless treasures after the elk leave.

Great Salt Lake (30-minute visit)
The Great Salt Lake, the world's second-largest saltwater lake and North America's largest inland salt lake, is located in western Utah, USA. It is bordered by the Rocky Mountains to the east and desert to the west, and consists of 10 islands. It is also a wildlife sanctuary, attracting millions of migratory birds annually. The lake's salinity is as high as 25%, second only to the Dead Sea, and only a few types of algae that can tolerate extremely high salinity can survive in it.

Utah State Capitol Utah State Capitol (30-minute visit)
The Utah State Capitol, located in Salt Lake City, rivals the scale and design of the U.S. Capitol in Washington, D.C. Its Byzantine-style dome gleams brilliantly in the sunlight. The interior is even more opulent and intricately decorated. The walls are made of polished marble, the ceilings are adorned with exquisite murals, and countless lifelike, finely sculpted figures stand within. Furthermore, given Utah's nickname, the "Honeycomb State," a prominent beehive sculpture stands in front of the building, a must-see for visitors to take photos.

Temple Square Temple Square (30-minute visit)
Temple Square is a 10-acre (4.0-hectare) complex located in downtown Salt Lake City and owned by The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Temple Square includes the Salt Lake City Temple, Salt Lake City Chapel, Salt Lake City Convention Center, the Seagull Monument, and two visitor centers. In 1964, the square was designated a National Historic Landmark to recognize the achievements of the Mormons in settling in Utah.
