Day 1:  New York City - Whiteface Mountain - Lake Placid

Trip:

Whiteface Mountain,

Adirondack Park,

Lake Placid,

High Falls Gorge

The first day, we will go to Whiteface Mountain, taking a cable tram ride, Gondola, to see the maple trees all over the mountains. (Cable Gondola seasonally opens: Mid Sept. - Mid Oct.) The Whiteface Mountain is one of the famous attractions in Adirondack Park, and it is the fifth highest mountain in New York State, and one of the High Peaks of the Adirondack Mountains. The Gondola carries you from the Main Base Lodge to the top of Little Whiteface. As you trace the mountain's contours, soaring over streams, steep rock faces and thick forests, the beauty of the Adirondacks reveals itself. At the top, an observation deck and a picnic area await you. You’ll see Lake Placid and its namesake village. To the east lies Lake Champlain. To the south stand the tallest peaks in New York State. Next, we will go to the Main Street of Lake Placid village. There are dozens of stores for you to stroll in and out leading from Olympic Center to the beauty of Lake Placid. On the other side of Main Street is the Mirror Lake.

Ausable Chasm is a privately owned nature park and has thrilled and amazed all who have come since it formed in 1870. There is a number of thrilling adventure trails for tourists to explore the chasm. The chasm is made of 500-foot-thick Potsdam sandstone that is over 500 million years old, carved into the Adirondack Mountains by an eponymous river flowing down from Mount Marcy. At its southern end, it drains into Lake Champlain. Then we drive to Port Kent to take a sightseeing ferry across Lake Champlain. Lake Champlain is a natural, freshwater lake in North America, located mainly within the borders of the United States (states of Vermont and New York) but partially situated across the border in the Canadian province of Quebec.Aside the Lake Champlain is the largest city of Vermont State, Burlington, which is an ideal getaway for summer vacation and honey moon.
